Rahul Sharma weave Magic on Santoor at IBPC event in Kuwait
The Santoor Maestro Rahul Sharma and Tabla Maestro Aditya Kalyanpur created magic on their musical instrument at an event organised by Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC), Kuwait on Saturday Jan 28th 2017, at ARMOUK CULTURAL CENTER - Dar Al Athar Al Islaamiyya, street 3,Block 3, opposite Gulf Bank and Boubyan Bank, YARMOUK from 6 pm to 7.30 pm.
On his hundred strings Santoor, like his father, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, Rahul too proved that he is the master instrumentalist of the Santoor. With the perfect combination of Aditya Kalyanpur on Tabla, the duo wove magic and kept the audience enamored.The maestros started with performance on Rag Yaman went on to Aalap. They went on to play Jod –Bandish in Rupak Taal, which was followed by a Bandish on Trital Drudh.
Earlier IBPC Hon Secretary Sri Anat Kapadiya welcomed the audience and Indian Ambassador to Kuwait HE Sunil Jain inaugurated the concert at Yarmouk Cultural Center- Dar Al Athar Al Islaamiyya. The event was attended by large number of Music lovers including Kuwaiti Nationals. People from all walks of life and from all age groups listened with rapt attention."We don't need to understand classical music to enjoy it," Rahul Sharma said in his opening remarks. Starting from classical, Rahul concluded the concert with a folk song of Kashmir valley. IBPC Hon. Joint Secretary Mr.Gurvinder Singh Lamba introduced the artists to the audience and Hon. Vice Chairman Mr.Shivy Bhasin proposed vote of thanks.
